Thai Night At Hallaton
We had a lovely ride out last night from The Bewick in Hallaton, and the weather was kind to us with a very pretty sky and the countryside looking glorious.

June 19th saw us all descend on the Bell at Burton Overy. Great weather although quite a chilly breeze when you stopped. On the long ride group we experienced quite a number of ‘angry’ drivers - often in 4x4’s.

We had a slight change to MVSC protocol this week when we visited the Cock Inn at Peatling Magna as the pub doesn’t do food. What it does do is great beer and gives us the opportunity to try some routes that are less well known to many.

Ciao a tutti (hello all in Italian apparently?). This week we returned to Glooston village hall (fast becoming the MVSC club house) and were treated to Caroline’s Italian Bolognese (who knew you can buy Gluten free pasta?)

So - we’re seven rides into the new MVSC season and it’s been a story of mostly dodging showers and great turnouts. The ‘E-bike’ group has attracted some new riders but please let any friends you have with e-bikes know
First Two MVSC Rides of 2024
Well here we are at the start of another Mike Vybiral Summer Cycling season. It seems like it’s been raining since July last year and it continued on both the first ride at Glooston and then this week at the Bell in Gumley.
Mcmillan Sportive on Saturday 18th May
Discover the quiet roads and off-road trails of Leicestershire & Rutland with four rewarding but challenging routes crossing scenic undulating vales and rolling countryside. The event includes a free refreshment stop for all the routes.
Spring is Here!
Winter is now over, the daffodils are out, the lambs are in the field and the first sounds of lawnmowers can be herd. Spring is here! Our first meet-up for Summer Cycling starts on Wednesday 10th April at Glooston Village Hall at 6:30.
We will miss you Bill
We wanted to share a few words about our very good friend and fellow cyclist, Bill Barrie, who after a long-fought battle with cancer, died at home on Sunday 22nd October, aged 78.
End of the season
Well that’s it - the 2023 MVSC (Mike Vybiral Summer Cycling) season closed it's doors on September 20th after 23 fantastic Wednesday evening rides.
Glooston Village Hall – Curry night
After visits to many other pubs we returned to an old favourite of mine this week and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Glooston village hall is a great location in my opinion.
Gumley Again!
The Bell at Gumley was again a very good host to this weeks ride and it had to one of the biggest turnout's we’ve seen all summer. I reckon there were over 50 riders
Wheel & Compass
The rain clouds gathered as the hardy riders met at the Wheel and Compass this week. There were three led rides

I guess most of us have been dodging the showers over the last week. Some will have got their timing perfect and find themselves sitting next to a pool in some far-off land sipping on a cool beer.
Great Bowden
The clouds gathered over Great Bowden as the summer cyclists arrived for this weeks rides. Before I go any further though, a massive thank you to the ride leaders last week
Glooston Village Hall
Well we continue to experience this exceptional weather and had a huge rider turnout at the fabulous Glooston village hall.
Fox & Goose, Illston
The sun was finally out for this weeks ride at the Fox and goose in Illston. What a fantastic little pub it is with excellent service from the team with numerous pizza’s ordered and devoured.
Another Great Evening at Gumley
It was another fantastic turnout in beautiful weather for this week's ride from the Bell at Gumley. Lovely to catch up with friends and some new riders were welcomed by all.
Great Turn Out at Great Glen
Another great turnout at the "Italian Greyhound" in Great Glen. I think the pub was a bit overwhelmed by the number of people that were there but I think the evening went well.

Chilli Night At Glooston Village Hall
We are trying something a little different on Wednesday 18th May. Summer cycling will meet at the Glooston village hall which has a new bar facility! They will be serving chilli, both meat and a vegetarian option, at a price of £5.00 per head.
Update on Shirts
Many thanks to those who have ordered cycling shirts and for prompt payment. The 1st order has been sent to Vanelli and we are expecting delivery by the end of May to Mid June. Orders are now being taken for a second batch so please see Nick Timms if you are interested.
