I guess most of us have been dodging the showers over the last week. Some will have got their timing perfect and find themselves sitting next to a pool in some far-off land sipping on a cool beer.
Wednesday was kind to us regarding weather though (what should the collective noun for us ‘Mike Vybiral Summer Cyclists’ be? ‘Crocs’ maybe after his favourite red shoes? – any suggestions welcome) and 32 riders took full advantage and joined one of the three led rides (Pete Condon, May Naylor/ Nick Fenwick and myself). It was lovely to see such a good turnout and the atmosphere back at the pub was again brilliant.
No reports of any issues and all riders returned safely although it was a tougher ride for David Hickie as he had a mechanical with his road bike beforehand meaning it was his trusty mountain bike for the night.
The middle ride included the famous ‘Heart Attack Hill’ at the end which certainly added a bit of pain I suspect?
Andy Beckett managed to eat a 20oz steak which is no mean feat. Thankfully there was plenty of beer on tap to help him wash it down. I thought the food was excellent again and great value for money. There are a few photos below.
Finally – some of you asked about the delivery date for the club kit and having just spoken with Hans at Vanelli, I’m pleased to report that it’s just arrived so we’ll have it to hand out at next weeks ride from the Queens Head in Saddington.
Hopefully we’ll see lots of riders again next Wednesday.
Take care.
Nick T.
