Well we continue to experience this exceptional weather and had a huge rider turnout at the fabulous Glooston village hall.
The three led rides attracted nearly 40 of us in total which was lovely to see and meant the 20-mile group of 18 split into two so as not to inconveinence other road users.
More personal best’s were recorded by some and for those not pushing themselves quite so hard the amazing views and simply being out with friends on a bike on a perfect English summer evening ticked all of the boxes. The ride leaders (Pete Condon, Nick Fenwick and Phil Rayner) did a great job with only Nick losing a couple of riders!
I’m not aware of any major rider mechanical issues other than my chain coming off in an impromptu sprint finish with Steve Irons and meant he got to the bar first.
Speaking of the bar – what a great job Phil and Paul did serving the drinks and even collecting the glasses and plates. Caroline and Alistair were beavering away to serve the wonderful curries (lovely recipes Caroline) and the breads etc.
The hall is a pretty unique place in this day and age and I for one feel very lucky that we as a group have access to it and the team of volunteers that keep improving the facilities.
In other news – club clothing update – I spoke with Hans at Vanelli on Thursday and he confirms the order is now with the manufacturer with delivery sometime in late July. We managed to add one late request to the order yesterday so all good. I’ll be contacting those that have ordered items this week to provide them with Pete Condon’s bank details.
Next weeks ride is at the Wheel and Compass in Weston By Welland. This sees some new ride leaders assisting as some of us regular bods are at a separate function. They’ll do a cracking job and many thanks for stepping into the breach.
Thanks again all and take care.
Nick T.
