News from Squire T – The Beerhouse
It was an Urban start to the ride this week with us all departing from the Beerhouse on St Mary’s Road in Market Harborough. The Beerhouse was one of Mike Vybiral’s absolute favourite locations and many of us spent some lovely evenings there with him when we all brought in some picnic type food to share and eat in the bar. I can’t believe it is 3 years ago since we lost Mike and as a mark of respect Pete Condon took his group through East Langton and stopped for a photo outside of Mike and Di’s lovely house.
There were 3 led rides in total with Pete, Nick Fenwick and myself taking on leader duties. I had 6 riders on the long ride whilst Pete and Nick had 9 and 10. The long ride were held up for a few minutes when Paul Brundell unfortunately had a puncture. Those extra minutes meant we just caught the rain at the tail-end of the ride but it wasn’t too bad. I don’t think there was much else to report other than the fantastic aroma of fish and chips (and Jim’s Chicken Kebab meat) as we walked into the bar. Another really lovely evening with a great atmosphere. The large public carpark had the bonus of being free after 6pm too.
It’s noticeable that the nights are starting to draw in now so please bring lights for the rides until the end of the season – which unbelievably is only about 3 weeks away!
Next week sees us return to the Bell at Burton Overy.
See you there and take care.
Nick Timms.
